Median Nerve Block

Amount of anesthetic:

• ~5cc 1-2% lidocaine
• Lidocaine max dose: 4-5mg/kg

Use sterile/semi-sterile technique.

Where you put the probe and needle:

• Start at the wrist crease. The median nerve will be difficult to distinguish from tendons
• Slide proximal 10-20cm. Tendons will flatten and median nerve will become more evident
• Be mindful of the location of other neuro/vascular structures
