When to scan:
- Cough
- Chest pain
- Unexplained fever, especially in children/eldery
Where to put the probe:
3 zones each side:
• Check 2 regions anterior chest mid-clavicular line
• Check midaxillary line, slide down to diaphragm

RUQ
Start at level of xiphoid, mid axillary line, parallel to floor. Then sweep or aim posterior towards bed as needed. Slide transducer up to diaphragm and down to caudal edge of liver.
LUQ
Spleen/kidney slightly more caudad and posterior than liver/kidney but similar movements to RUQ
Pelvis
Transverse then sweep into pelvis over the pubic symphysis
Subcostal
Start low in abdomen, parallel to floor and slowly move towards head, sweep through the heart

A Lines:
B Lines:
B-lines suggest interstitial edema in locations where they appear, can represent localized or diffuse infection
Hepatization:
Consolidation can make lung look liver above the diaphragm = hepatization
Parapneumonic Effusion:
Parapneumonic effusion identified below dense consolidation
