Hydronephrosis
When to Scan:
- Flank pain
- Hematuria
- Pyelonephritis (to rule-out obstructive uropathy)
*Remember to scan the aorta, too, in any patient over 50!
Where to put the probe:

• At level of xiphoid process
• Mid-axillary line
• Start parallel with floor then sweep posterior as needed

• Same movements as R renal scan, but often more superior and posterior
• Can start with transducer touching the bed then move anterior as needed
